ReplyDeleteMy brother is a sort of "live with it and get over it" guy, and it irritates the crap out of me. It's hypocritical at best and downright insulting at worst. I get that it's like mourning, people want things to be instantly better and they want you to have the bright spot in your life in the place where you are since they can't change it, but not all places are bright, and just because we recognize a blight in our lives, doesn't mean we're not grateful for jobs, home, family, spouses, etc. It means we're missing something we want.
ReplyDeleteI just wish I could find a way to tell these people that I get it. They don't want me to be unhappy. I don't want me to be unhappy either. But I am, and telling me the cons of having a baby isn't going to make me suddenly think, "Yeah, you know, I don't really want that any more." Advantages and disadvantages, I want them both.
