A place to vent about the dumb and/or hurtful things fertiles say. Cut and paste the dumb facebook conversations & status's. Quote what your dumb-ass Aunt said to you at Thanksgiving dinner. Anything goes!

Did you see her label? "Toddlers are vicious creatures" Can I bitch slap that woman??
ReplyDeleteI've always wanted to ask these women - if they would trade their babies for a childless life?
ReplyDeleteI am sure they would all say no. I can't stand how everyone (commentors included) keeps calling the toddlers "AH". Can't even get myself to say the word in relation to a kid.
Ugh,
ReplyDeleteFertiles have no idea what they have and how many women out there would give their left arm to have it!!
Call me stupid, but what does "AH" stand for?
ReplyDeleteHaving worked with kids, I'm not totally going to pretent they don't drive you up the wall at times (especially as they hit preteen age which I'm now teaching)...I'm not in denial...that being said, kids will do what you let them and if you don't nip it in the bud, then you have to deal with the behaviour continuing. I saw no attempt to teach this kid that twisting mommy's nipples is wrong. A 20 second time out? What a moron...she clearly has no comprehension of how time-outs work.
ReplyDeleteOne tiny plus side of infertility: when we all finally get to parenthood, we will know and appreciate the gift we have in our child/ren and not write posts like this.
ReplyDeleteHer feelings are probably understandable but I can see how this was painful for you to read. :-(
AH is asshole. I teach 3 and 4 year olds, so I understand where she is coming from....but how about lets focus on the nice things in life and not call your child a curse word?! unappreciative...

ReplyDeleteI'm a moron and I get to be bitch slapped. All right then. So be it.
ReplyDeleteI struggled for infertility for years. I am grateful to have my child. Maybe you missed the part where I wrote that she is the love of my life. I have NEVER called her any names other than silly pet names like 'munchkin'. I was simply venting on MY blog.
I'm sorry if any of you were offended. I do not take parenthood lightly and yes, believe it or not I know how time outs work. Like I said before, I was having a bad day.

ReplyDeleteSo let me get this straight ... it's not okay for an over-looked, misunderstood, often patronized group (who are almost always over hormonal due to treatments) to set up a site for THEMSELVES where they get to vent (not in any one else's face) privately amongst themselves.
ReplyDeleteI don't necessarily agree with the OP, but It's not like this was posted on YOUR blog. It was shared with a group of likeminded people who understand the stresses of IF and how sometimes - hell yeah - it makes you bitchy. Bitchy in a way you can't share in "public". So we come here. Because apparently being stressed is what's keeping us all from conceiving. If we could only just "relax"! *rolls eyes*
And as for Princess Consuela - I think you need to read the title of this blog and shut YOUR mouth when you're HERE. You clearly understand nothing outside of your own tiny world.

ReplyDeleteGuess what, you're a mother?? And this gives you a right to attack other people? I'm glad that the ability to push spawn out of your nether regions gives you such a sense of superiority and entitlement.
ReplyDeleteAnd who's commenting anonymously "mommykiss". It's clear you think you've only done one important thing in your life.
I wish your children the best of luck overcoming your smothering superiority complex.

ReplyDeleteI'm only judging you for coming to a place you've no business being, shouting out a quick "such righteous bitches" (in very righteous fashion, I might add), and winging off again. Only to return to claim (randomly) "I'm a mommy" as if we couldn't guess from your username.
ReplyDeleteYou might take a second to note that most of the commenters here said that they can understand the emotions expressed by the mother, but also understand how it can be hurtful for an IF-er to read them. Where's the self-righteousness in that? Don't you find it amazing that - oh my god - WITHOUT actually being "mommies" we can take a minute to walk in another's shoes. Something you seem to be failing at spectacularly. Especially here, on this one blog where WE get to vent.

ReplyDeleteThere were no comments on the site - just a link out. If people commented ON that ladies' blog, then you're perfectly within your rights to attack, but not here. Here YOU are being the bully, and I think if you read over your comments, you'll see that.

ReplyDeleteI hope your friend's surgery goes well and she recovers quickly. That is a horrible thing for anyone to have to go through.
ReplyDeleteI think it's unfortunate that the blog was taken down because of the link. I don't really understand why? But I am also sure that this is a community of really great, really reasonable women (when they're not jumped up on more hormones than anyone should reasonably experience), and had a request been sent to remove the link, it would have been.
ReplyDeleteI suspect we're both here battling with words for friends who we feel have been hurt. Nobody wants something like that to continue.
I, personally, found your personal, direct and attacking comments on this blog very thoughtless and hurtful. You seemed to jump straight to "rarg bitches! I am mommy!" which does nothing to help. You never addressed any of my questions (cf "Who was commenting anonymously? You are the one with not a real username" as an example.)
I didn't particularly care for your use of someone else's tragedy, which has NOTHING to do with this conversation as a "trump" either. I thought it was a little tacky, though I have nothing but positive thoughts for your friend. There's enough horrible stuff out there in the world that I think we can all play those kinds of cards. I'm not going to engage.
I hope you'll learn to grow a little, but I have my suspicions to the contrary.
Everyone has the right to vent how they feel about whatever situation life hands them at the time. I wouldn't ask you ladies to take the link down, but it would have been nice if someone opened up a dialogue with me, to better understand my situation. My feelings were hurt. I also think that it was taken out of context and maybe you missed the humor in my post. I'm not for everyone. Like I said, I'm not going out of my way to offend anyone.
ReplyDeleteI decided to take down the post mentioned here because it was rather personal and maybe I shouldn't have put it up there to begin with. Like I said, I never meant to upset anyone.
I'm a nice person who loves her child. I am not the perfect parent and I used my blog to vent about a particular day that had me at my wit's end.
Zany Housewife,
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry you felt hurt. I think we sometimes lose a bit of our humour in the face of everything we face - or at least, I know I can. No one here is perfect (or anywhere! :)
I can't speak for anyone but myself, but I do sincerely doubt that anyone wanted to hurt your feelings.
Like Michelle has said before, ignorant comments made against us here will be deleted.
ReplyDeleteSo here is a big STFU. Keep your comments elsewhere and don't read this blog. It's for us, not YOU.
Edel Claire (love your name!) Thank you for things so well said!
